next time you hear a white person say “well if black people can say the n-word why can’t i???” you should ask them “why do you want to?” and listen as they try not to say “black people have something of their own that I am not entitled to and that hurts my feelings and makes me feel inferior”

omgoodness.

What would your advice be to me, a white person?

Learn how to use your privilege to fight oppression. Don’t take up space in conversations where PoC need space (because you do not need to be in ALL conversations). Understand that talking about “white people” and whiteness is not a personal assault on you less you are not actively combating white supremacy. Recognize that anti blackness is a struggle within the greater fight against white supremacy which is unique to black people’s experiences. Do not compress all PoC struggles into a single narrative. Genuinely listen to people’s struggles and authentically act to be in struggle with oppressed peoples (because, if you are poor, you are one of them, however differently than PoC) not in it to “save” them. Battle with and constantly parse the nuances of intersectionality so that you are aware of when and where racial oppression correlates with class oppression. Identify the institutions of white supremacy and stop supporting them, act to dismantle them.

Edit: Avoid at all times “colorblind” and post-racial rhetoric.
